Warriors Grind Out 31-18 win over Union Area

Canton dominated Union on the ground en route to a 31-18 win over the District VII foe in non-league football action.

The Warriors pounded out 241 yards on the ground, led by Riley Parker running for 93 yards and two scores on 11 carries. Weston Bellows had 10 carries for 62 yards, as Michael Davis added five rushes for 34 yards. Bailey Ferguson had five carries for 22 yards, Hayden Ward had five touches for 21 yards, and a score, while Hudson Ward had a 5-yard touchdown run.

Ferguson was 3-for-4 for four yards and an interception through the air.

It was back and forth early as Hayden Ward ran in a first quarter score from a yard out. Ferguson added the point after to make it 7-0. After a Union touchdown cut it to 7-6, Hudson Ward had his 5-yard touchdown run for a 13-6 lead.

In the second quarter Parker had a 35-yard scoring run, with Ferguson adding the point after to put them up 19-6. Union would score late in the quarter to make it 19-12 at the half. Ferguson nailed a 33-yard field goal to make it 22-12 after three quarters.

Union would score a touchdown to make it 22-18, but after a Canton safety, they sealed the deal with a 20-yard Parker run. Ferguson’s kick was good to make it 31-18.
