Indians sweep Knights in double-header.

2012 Cowanesque vs. Towanda Boys TennisTOWANDA - Cowanesque Valley swept Towanda in boys' NTL tennis action Monday.

The Indians won the first match 4-1 and the second 4-0.

In the first match, Towanda's lone win came in first singles as Dave Rodenhizer rallied past CV's Chandler Mastin 3-6, 6-4, 6-0.

CV took the next four matches.

In second singles, Seth Brown beat Towanda's Danny Christian 6-1, 6-1, in third singles Indian Trentyn Beebe held off Nolyn Chaffee 6-4, 6-2, in fourth singles CV's Brian Fulmer defeated Christan Bassee 6-3, 6-1 and in fifth singles Matt Sherman topped Towanda's Tim Conklin 6-2, 6-1.

In singles action, in the second match Brown beat Christian 6-0, 6-0; Beebe edged Chaffee 6-2, 6-3; Fulmer topped Basse 6-3, 6-1 and Sherman beat Conklin 7-5, 6-1.

The doubles action was cancelled due to rain. At the time Rodenhizer and Chaffee were beating Brown and Beebe 7-6 (7-0), 3-2.

In exhibition action, Towanda's Alejandro Seda defeated CV's Dean Lee 6-1, 6-2 while CV's duo of Ryan Sackett and Jarred Clark topped Towanda's Matt McGee and Kevin Blackman 6-3, 6-3.

Towanda is at South Williamsport Thursday and will host Galeton the following Wednesday.

Liberty 7, Wellsboro 0

The Mountaineers remained undefeated by sweeping the Hornets in Boys' NTL Tennis action Monday.

In first singles action, Mountaineer Rhyan Harer defeated Wellsboro's Aaron Dillman 6-2, 7-5 while Liberty's Ryan Martin defeated Garrett Carr 6-2, 6-4 in second singles.

In third singles, Jake Spring topped Hornet Zach Pearson 6-0, 6-3, in fourth singles, Tyler Upham edged Wellsboro's Ryan Tevlin 6-4, 6-3 and in fifth singles Liberty's Andrew Nadas defeated Brandon Osgood 6-3, 6-2.

In doubles action, Martin and Spring defeated Dillman and Pearson 6-3, 6-4 while Harer and Dakota Alexyn edged Carr and Tevlin 6-4, 5-7, 10-4.

Liberty improved to 4-0 while Wellsboro falls to 1-3.
