Towanda beats South Williamsport.

Towanda swept the two doubles matches to defeat South Williamsport 5-2 in non-league boys' tennis action Saturday.

The Knights led 3-2 after the five singles matches and needed just one win in doubles to seal the victory. They ended up getting both.

The marquee match-up was at first singles as Towanda's David Rodenhizer handled South Williamsport's Christian Cioffi 6-3, 6-2 between two of the players in District IV.

South's Logan Wein held off a comeback from Kevin Blackman at second singles 6-0, 6-7, 6-2.

At third singles Towanda's Christian Thomason won over Eric Reaser 6-1, 6-3, at fourth singles Knight Dawson Wright beat McGuire Molino 6-2, 6-1 and at fifth singles South's Travis Wagner beat Logan Spencer 6-3, 6-1.

In doubles action a team of Rodenhizer and Blackman beat Cioffi and Wein 6-3, 6-4 while at second doubles a team of Thomason and Wright beat Reaser and Molino 6-4, 6-1.

In exhibition action South's Mason McClane beat Matt McNeal 6-3, 6-1.

The Black Knights improve to 2-0 and will host Wellsboro in a double-header beginning at 1 p.m. on Monday.
