Williamsport boys fall to William Penn in Central York tourney.

Williamsport fell to William Penn in the Central York Tournament, 63-55, Friday night as the boys basketball season began. Marcus Simmons (10), Al-Tamar Jason (13) and Darryl Wilson (14) each scored double-digit points. The Millionaires will play Franklin Learn­ing Center, a 100-41 loser to Reading, in the consolation game today at 6.

Skyler Vinluan scored 21 points on opening night for Cowanesque Valley in a 63-18 win over Northern Potter. Christina Kemp and Tyler Vargeson each had 13 and 14 points, respectively.

Nate Liscum totaled 16 points as Lewisburg fell to Math Civics and Science, 74-50 at the Shamokin Tip-Off. Aaron Hoover added 13 points and three from beyond the arc.

Bucktail fell to Oswayo Valley in the opening round of the Jack Bush Tournament in CV, 69-62. Liam Dwyer led Bucktail with 4 threes and 24 total points.

Junior Armstrong put up 24 points and 14 rebounds but the Jersey Shore Bulldogs fell to Danville in overtime, 63-56. Jersey Shore outscored Danville 20-12 in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Jay Dincher added 11 points for the Bulldogs.

Alex Baumunk scored 20 points with 10 rebounds while hitting 4 of 6 3-pointers as Sullivan County hit 11 3-pointers and opened the Mountain Madness Tournament with a 53-28 win over Northeast Brad­ford. John Saxe added 16 points and seven assists as the Griffins outscored Northeast Bradford, 28-13, in the second half.

Cole Lentz and Tristin Weaver each scored 11 points as South Williams­port fell to Troy, 60-46.

• In girls basketball, Han­nah Kaufman scored a career-high 43 points, including 35 in the second half, to lift Jersey Shore to a 63-49 win over Hughes­ville. Jersey Shore scored 50 points in the second half after scoring just 13 in the first. Jayden Leighow led Hughesville with 13 points while Alisha McKinley 10.

Shaleyn Berguson and Joanne McNamara each scored 12 points to lead North Penn-Mansfield to a 39-37 win over Wyalusing in the Jack Bush Tourna­ment. Berguson hit two of her four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as NP-Mansfield outscored Wya­lusing, 23-16 in the second half.

Megan Weber scored a game-high 22 points as South Williamsport out­scored Montgomery 35-6 in the first half en route to a 61-27 win. Reily Fry led Mont­gomery with 11 points.

Cowanesque Valley started the season with a 31-27 win over Northern Potter at its Jack Bush Tour­nament. Brynn Wil­liams led CV with 3 treys and 11 total points.

Williamson moved into its tournament final with a 56-23 win over Bucktail. Lilly Fitzmartin had 12 points.

Canton’s Elle Binford (11), Tamara Hess (11) and Shea Roupp (10) scored double figures in 41-21 win over North Penn-Liberty on opening night. Eva Rice was Liberty’s lead scorer with eight.

Galeton beat Austin, 64-35, scoring 24 points in the second quarter to pull away. Makaya Shadle had 27 in the game.

• In wrestling, Lewis­burg picked up bonus points from Chase Prutz­man (170), Dakotah Snyder (220) and Lance Klinefelter (285) in 43-30 win over Benton. Ricky Ahir, Justin Gessner, Austin Ruhl benefit from forfeits. Benton’s Cole Rhone tech falled Logan Bartlett at 132.
